The City of Mission Viejo is requesting proposals for a consultant to implement the City’s Housing Rehabilitation Program. The Housing Rehabilitation Program (Program) has been adopted by the City Council of the City of Mission Viejo to meet the City’s Community Development goals of providing its residents with decent, safe and sanitary housing and a suitable living environment. The Housing Rehabilitation Program provides technical and financial assistance to qualifying Low Income Households who are owner/occupants of single-family residential properties in the City of Mission Viejo.

What is the Safety Element?
The Safety Element of the City of Mission Viejo General Plan is required by State law to identify community safety risks and establish goals, policies, and programs to safeguard residents and businesses from those risks. Safety risks posing the greatest local threat include fire hazards, geologic risks, flooding, and climate change. Other topics addressed in the Safety Element include emergency preparedness, hazardous materials and waste, and evacuation constraints. The Safety Element was last updated by the City in 2009.

The City of Mission Viejo continues its efforts to comply with California's statewide housing mandates while minimizing the impact to residents and preserving the City’s unique character. As part of this ongoing work, the Planning and Transportation Commission recently recently recommended City Council approval of plans for the redevelopment of a portion of the Vista Del Lago apartment complex at 21622 Marguerite Parkway.

Notice is hereby given that the City of Mission Viejo anticipates receiving approximately $369,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funds from the U. S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) for Fiscal Year 2026-2027. The primary objective of the CDBG Program is “the development of viable urban communities by providing decent housing, a suitable living environment, and expanding economic opportunities, principally for persons of low- and moderate-income.”
