Introduction

Welcome to the official website for the City of Mission Viejo. Our community features picturesque views, safe neighborhoods, and a rich culture. We are committed to making our digital services welcoming and accessible to everyone.

Standards

The City of Mission Viejo is actively working to align our website, mobile applications, and digital documents with Title II of the Americans with Disabilities Act. We are continuously updating our digital content with the goal of conforming to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 Level AA.

As part of our ongoing commitment to improve the user experience for those with visual, auditory, cognitive, and motor impairments, we strive to incorporate accessible design features into our digital platforms.

Examples of our current accessibility goals include:

  • Formatting text so it can be easily scaled up or down using standard browser controls.
  • Providing alternative text descriptions for non-text elements like images and icons.
  • Prioritizing actual text over images of text whenever possible.
  • Structuring content with a logical heading hierarchy to assist screen readers.
  • Formatting digital forms and data tables to be more easily read by assistive technologies.

Feedback and Accommodations

We are constantly working to improve the accessibility of our digital services. If you encounter an accessibility barrier on our website, require a document in an alternative format, or need assistance accessing a city service online, we want to hear from you.
