The City of Mission Viejo will host a Patriot Day Remembrance Ceremony to honor the men, women and children who lost their lives and the heroes who responded to the catastrophic events of 9/11.
The gathering is from 5:30 to 7 pm on Thursday, September 11 at the newly opened Fire Station 24 at 25862 Marguerite Parkway. Attendees can park at the Mission Viejo Marketplace (located at the corner of Marguerite and Oso Parkways) and walk to Fire Station 24 as no parking will be available at the station.

Never forget folks!!!!
As a former New Yorker, it is still extremely difficult to go near Ground Zero.
Thank you for having this memorial.

Dear Community,
I remember the "unity" of Americans, American flags on our cars to symbolize our patriotism. We were so "respectful" of each other.
I am thankful that elementary school teachers (at Mission Viejo's O'Neil Elementary School) promoted the feeling of patriotism in students when the kids returned to school: each class proudly held up their classroom flag as they paraded, walking to patriotic songs, at the start of school morning . --- Sincerely, Marianne

I AM VERY GRATEFUL FOR THIS MEMORIAL EVENT. MY HUSBAND, AND MY DAUGHTER AND SON-IN-LAW WERE IN NYC ON SEPTEMBER 11th THEY WERE NOT NEAR THE DEVASTATION. THEY TRIED TO DONATE BLOOD, ENCOURAGE PEOPLE ON THE STREETS, ETC.
THERE WAS A REAL BOND AMONG NEW YORKERS AND VISITORS....UNITED IN GRIEF AND IN DESIRE TO HELP OTHERS IN ANY WAY POSSIBLE.
THEY WERE SCHEDULED TO COME HOME ON 9/12, BUT ALL FORMS OF TRANSPORTATION WERE SHUT DOWN.
SO, THEY WERE DRIVEN TO PENNSYLVANIA WHERE THEY COULD RENT A CAR. THEN THEY DROVE SOUTH AND THEN WEST TO COME HOME TO MISSION VIEJO. PEOPLE ALL ACROSS AMERICA WERE UNITED IN GRIEF AND PATRIOTISM. DRIVING ACROSS AMERICA BECAME A BOND BETWEEN MY FAMILY AND AMERICANS ALL ACROSS THE NATION. GOD BLESS AMERICA !!
