With the new Stay-At-Home order in effect in Southern California, the City of Mission Viejo continues to provide services to the community while taking precautionary measures to help slow the spread of COVID-19.

Since the start of the pandemic, the City of Mission Viejo has proactively worked to keep the public apprised of COVID-19 directives from the State and County and best practices to stay healthy and safe.

The Orange County Fire Authority (OCFA) and KWAVE are teaming up to collect and distribute toys to nonprofits throughout Orange County. With the ongoing pandemic, the need for toys has never been greater.

Many people are out of work and unable to provide gifts for their young children and teenagers. So far, more than 32,000 toys have been requested. You can help by donating new, unwrapped toys and sports equipment through a drive-through toy donation event on Saturday, December 5 from 9 am to 1 pm at Crossline Church in Laguna Hills at 23331 Moulton Parkway.

From beginning guitar and ukulele to iPhone photography and abstract painting, the City's artistic virtual classes will have you embracing your creativity.

In celebration of this 32nd year and new platform, the virtual Walk Against Drugs video event will feature a mosaic of images highlighting past events.

Along with walking down memory lane, the virtual Walk Against Drugs will unite the community in living healthy lifestyles and saying NO to drugs, alcohol, tobacco and vaping.

The City of Mission Viejo's first Drive-in Movie, Sponsored by Evolution Swim Academy, will showcase a crowd favorite "Coco" on October 30 at Saddleback College. This enchanting animated film will air after dusk on a large 52-foot screen. Gates open at 6 pm, with the movie starting at 7 pm. All ticket proceeds will benefit the Headquarters Battalion, 1st Marine Division from Camp Pendleton.

A special artist reception is set for Sunday to celebrate the incredible works of art on display at the Potocki Center for the Arts.

The reception is from 2-5 pm at 27301 La Paz Road.

The fascinating exhibit is by students of Dr. Marillyn Brame, director of Visual Arts Art School and a designer of visual arts murals. She teaches classes for children and adults in all media – from beginning drawing to advanced painting techniques.

Santa Claus is coming to town on Sunday, December 1. Grab your kids, friends and neighbors and head to the Mission Viejo Civic Center Plaza for this time-honored celebration that begins at 3 pm.

The fun includes entertainment, live reindeer and game and activity booths where children can make crafts and have a blast. Santa will arrive atop a fire engine around 6 pm and help usher in the holidays by turning on the spectacular lights in Mission Viejo.

Have you heard of the Caring Fairies? These magical beings will return to the Oso Creek Trail on November 3, turning a 1-mile swath into a whimsical place of hidden fairy houses and other delights amid the tree trunks. Their return coincides with the Artisan Faire from 10 am to 4 pm at the Potocki Center for the Arts, 27301 La Paz Road.
